Zitterbewegung Damping in Structures Based on Dirac Crystals

Abstract

The possibility is explored of controlling the period of decay of Zitterbewegung oscillations in graphene and graphene superlattices. The duration of Zitterbewegung when using high-frequency radiation is calculated for graphene. Results show an increase in the length of the effect when an alternating field is switched on. It is shown that the duration of Zitterbewegung decay for a graphene superlattice can be controlled by changing the ratio between the period of the superlattice and the width of the electron wave packet.
