Abstract

It has been established that Eurasian pygmy shrew has a shorter reproductive period than other shrew species. The reproductive period of Sorex minutus lasts from mid-May to late September and is characterized by the involvement of all adults and overwintered individuals in the reproduction of the variety between two to 11 embryos (mean 6.0 ± 0.21, n = 53). This amount of embryos is noticeably lower than that of the other studied shrew species, but higher than the same species in other parts of its range.
