Abstract <p>Three interesting species of <i>Buellia</i> were identified while examining lichens from Kerala, India. <i>Buellia</i> <i>ghattensis</i>, a saxicolous species is described from Mathikettan Shola National Park, Kerala, India as new to science. The new species is morphologically similar to <i>Buellia nashii</i> but distinguished by the presence of brown coloured exciple lacking aeruginose pigment, non-pruinose thalli lacking calcium oxalate crystals, and the presence of atranorin. The detailed comparison with other allied species is also discussed. <i>Buellia quartziana</i> S.R. Singh and D.D. Awasthi and <i>Buellia erubescens</i> Arnold, previously known from other Indian states, are recorded from Kerala for the first time.</p>

Abstract

Three interesting species of Buellia were identified while examining lichens from Kerala, India.
