On Unique Reconstruction of a Lambertian Curve from a Stereo Pair of Images

Within the framework of inverse problems of photometry, we study questions onreconstruction of the spatial location and luminosity of a Lambertian curve from a stereo pair ofits images. We study sources of ambiguity in reconstruction of the location of such a curve andsuggest criteria for existence of a unique solution of the problem for general weight functions. Weapply the results to specific classes of weight functions that model the degree of transparency ofthe medium (including its absorption or scattering).
