Abstract

Laser shock peening of materials, focusing on the effect of various laser parameters (power density, laser spot radius, and overlapping coefficient) on the mechanical response of the material (compressive residual stresses, the occurrence depth, surface plastic deformation, and roughness), was studied. This study, conducted using linear regression analysis, was conducted on the V95 aluminum alloy. The optimization of laser parameters is shown to provide both the deepest layers of compressive residual stresses and the smallest surface plastic deformation and roughness.
