Simple Calibration and Test of K-Type Wire Thermocouple

Abstract

In order to address the issues of high calibration cost, complex procedures, and large errors associated withexisting methods for calibrating thin film thermocouples, this study presents a novel approach for calibrating K-type thin film thermocouples in a static environment to mitigate the aforementioned problems and enhance accuracy. Firstly, the temperature measurement principle and key structure of thin film thermocouples are introduced, followed by the construction of a static calibration platform specifically designed for these devices. Subsequently, the working principle of this platform is described in detail. Several experiments are conducted to measure the thermopower of fixed points on thin film thermocouples at different temperatures. Finally, experimental data is imported into Origin and SPASS software for fitting analysis, enabling mathematical discussions on the linear relationship between temperature and thermoelectric power. The results demonstrate that employing a simulation environment platform significantly reduces calibration costs while improving efficiency and accuracy.
