Late Cambrian–Tremadocian Syn- and Post-Collisional Igneous Complexes of the Zheltau Terrane (Southern Kazakhstan): Age Substantiation and Compositional Features
摘要
The age (SIMS) and formation environments of Late Cambrian–Tremadocian igneous complexes have been substantiated for the Zheltau terrane of Southern Kazakhstan. Late Cambrian formations are represented by granodiorites (491 ± 4 Ma) and quartz diorites (490 ± 4 Ma), formed as a result of partial melting of Precambrian crustal complexes at the peak of metamorphic transformations associated with the collision of a Precambrian block and an ensimatic island arc at the end of the Cambrian. Tremadocian formations are represented by the newly identified Bassu Formation, composed primarily of basalts, tuffs, and volcanogenic-sedimentary rocks of basic composition with rare with rare rhyodacites. The age of the formation is estimated at 484 ± 3 Ma. The Bassu Formation was developed in a post-collisional environment during rifting processes in the back-arc region of the Early Ordovician active continental margin.
