Abstract <p>The orographic framework of the Okhotsk-Kolyma region includes three tectonically distinguished types of structures: fold belts, volcanic-tectonic belts, and rifts. Large fault zones striking in the NW, NE, and W‒E directions bound neotectonic blocks of different geometries, with different amounts of vertical offset. A number of large faults in the southeastern flank of the Chersky Range have generated large instrumental and historic earthquakes. Past earthquakes left traces evident in the present surface as ruptures, slope failure and mass wasting features, dammed river valleys, colluvial fans and flows. The gravity and tectonic features induced by paleoearthquakes are often associated with debris slides, debris flows, and drained surfaces of lakes dammed by landslides.</p>
