Abstract

A series of pit holes presents lake deposits on the southeastern edge of the Chuya Basin (Gorny Altai). For the first time, four OSL dates with an average age of 22 thousand years were obtained, characterizing the age of the last ice-dammed lake of the Chuya Basin. We conclude that the age of the glaciers blocking the exit from the basin corresponds to the last Upper Neo-Pleistocene glacial maximum.
