Summer Atmospheric Blockings in the Northern Hemisphere: Changes in Recent Decades (1993–2023)
摘要
The summer atmospheric blockings in the Northern Hemisphere (NH) under climate change in the years 1993–2023 were analyzed. The results indicate a significant increase in blocking activity in the summer seasons in the atmosphere in recent decades. The noted trend is manifested against the background of a general increase in the near-surface temperature in summer seasons in the Northern Hemisphere. The parameters of sensitivity with regard to changes in the NH near-surface temperature in the summer seasons to the total duration of summer atmospheric blockings, their number, average duration, size, and intensity were estimated. In particular, a statistically relevant estimation of the increase in the total duration of summer atmospheric blockings by three quarters under the increase in the mean summer near-surface temperature by 1K was obtained for the Northern Hemisphere.
