Abstract <p>In this note, the variety of acronyms using for different types of DNA in the scientific literature, which cause confusion and lead to the appearance of new acronyms, are listed and briefly discussed. It is proposed that there is a need to systematize and standardize abbreviations related to different DNA types. Since the acronym eDNA covers various environmental DNA sources, including water, sediment, air, ice, snow, etc., the question is raised whether different types of eDNA require their own acronyms.</p>
