Identification of Bos taurus and Bos grunniens Using SNPs

Abstract—Using the specimens of the domestic yak and three cattle breeds, the differentiating potential of Chr4:68609356G>T (JAZF1 gene), Chr14:35695388G>T (SLCO5A1 gene), and Chr19:63181970C>G (CEP112 gene) polymorphic variants was assessed. High accuracy (99.67%), specificity (100%), and sensitivity (100%) of the suggested test model, consisting of these three polymorphisms for identification of the domestic yak and cattle, were confirmed. A fast and simple identification method based on this model using kompetitive allele-specific PCR (KASP) technology was developed, which made it possible to considerably reduce the time and cost of molecular genetic analysis, as well as to reduce the risk of cross-contamination of the specimens.
