Abstract <p>Morality is a fundamental basis of any community, regulating relationships between individuals. From a systems-evolutionary perspective, behavior is viewed as the actualization of functional systems formed at different stages of ontogenesis. Systems related to morality are typically less differentiated. Recording and analyzing brain activity via electroencephalogram (EEG) allows researchers to determine how systems of varying levels of differentiation contribute to behavior. However, a review of existing literature reveals that capturing EEG data during moral problem-solving presents significant challenges. Specifically, reading text or viewing images induces eye movements and other muscle activity, which introduce artifacts into the EEG recordings. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to develop a specialized research protocol to minimize these artifacts. To achieve this, two pilot experiments were conducted using moral dilemmas presented auditorily (<i>N</i> = 12) and visually/textually (<i>N</i> = 11). By comparing the collected data, we have managed to evaluate the specific capabilities and limitations of both presentation methods.</p>
