Abstract <p>The problems of perception of existing and future climate change and associated risks and adaptation by the population and public of Russia are discussed. The general low awareness of the Russian population about relevant issues is noted. Features of climate discourse that influence this level of awareness, including the general perception of global risks, underestimation of impacts, varying levels of scientific certainty, and the great number of interested parties, are highlighted. These features must be considered when informing Russian society about climate change and its consequences, with the aim of increasing climate literacy and improving the safety, standard of living, and quality of life of Russians in the context of climate change.</p>
