Urislinguistics in the Social Space of Belarus

This article explores the problematic field of Belarusian jurislinguistics as a branch of linguistics, designed to solve a complex of fundamental and applied issues in the legal and lingua-legal space. Each of the developing areas of urislinguistics in the Republic of Belarus has its own specific features. Within the framework of linguistic controlling, the techniques of editorial analysis of legal acts in the two official languages are being improved. In the field of jurislinguistic hermeneutics, comments on current legal acts are being prepared. Judicial rhetoric defines the requirements for public speakers in accordance with procedural legislation. In the context of legal terminology, specific units of the terminology system of Belarusian law are studied. Legal translation solves the issue of “linguistic equivalence” between Belarusian and Russian texts. Within the framework of linguistic expertology, tools are being developed that allow for the appropriate correlation of the elements of an offense with relevant linguistic markers. A promising area of development for jurislinguistics in the Republic of Belarus is the study of problems of verbal portrayal of the linguistic personality of an offender in the context of the national legal field, which falls within the scope of jurislinguistic personology.
