Abstract <p>The main aspects of the 1921–1941 preparation of the industry of the Soviet Union for functioning in wartime conditions are examined. Based on the studied materials, the author concludes that, although the tasks set before Soviet industry were not fully solved, nevertheless, the measures for mobilization preparation played a colossal role in the significant increase in the USSR defense capability, which ultimately predetermined the victory of the Soviet Union in the Great Patriotic War.</p>
