Abstract

One of the collections of stereophotographs and both glass and film negatives dating from the 1890s to the 1930s, held by the State Museum and Exhibition Center ROSPHOTO and presumably associated with the Levin family, was acquired in 2006. This collection, which possesses undeniable artistic and historical value, has repeatedly drawn the attention of museum staff. After its initial cataloging and accession, curators continued to refine the attribution of individual items, while conservators regularly monitored the condition of the glass and film negatives. The archive comprises 401 items: 258 amateur and professional stereophotographs, 108 amateur glass negatives, and 35 amateur film negatives. This article focuses on the study, storage, examination, and conservation of gelatin silver glass negatives.
