Verification of a Numerical Algorithm Based on Quasi-Hydrodynamic Equations as Applied to Thermal Convection Problems

Abstract
It is shown that the quasi-hydrodynamic (QHD) algorithm allows one to simulate viscous uncompressible flows in thermal convection problems at large Grashof numbers, including the correct description of the onset of an oscillatory process. Tests for square and rectangular cavities are described. The computations are performed by applying the QHD algorithm incorporated into the OpenFOAM package.
