Abstract

At the current level of knowledge, seven acute and flat summit submarine volcanoes, some of which are almost completely buried, are recognized in the structure of the Paramushir group of submarine volcanoes located on the Sea of Okhotsk slope of the Kuril island arc. Petrological–mineralogical and petrophysical studies have been carried out in modern laboratories. Geomorphological and geophysical data obtained in expeditions of the research vessel Vulkanolog in 1981‒1991 have been processed using modern computer technologies. These studies again demonstrated the effective work of the authors’ team in studying the structure of submarine volcanoes of the Kuril island arc and provided new data on the Pacific Ocean island-arc volcanism.
