The Interrelationship of Component Composition of the Body with Biological Age according to the Bio-Age Scale

A new method for estimating biological age (BA) on the Bio-age scale, which reflects the degree of its correspondence relative to calendar age (CA), is presented. In total, 972 individuals (427 men and 545 women) aged 18–70 years underwent an analysis of anthropometric (body length and weight), physiometric (systolic blood pressure, vital capacity of the lungs, dynamometry of the right hand), biochemical (level of glucose and total cholesterol in the blood) indicators, as well as calculated indicators obtained during cardiointervalography (indicator of the activity of regulatory systems), angiological screening (ankle-brachial index), bioimpedance analysis (percentage of active cell mass (ACM), body fat mass (BFM), total water (TW), basal metabolic rate). An increase with age in the number of subjects (especially among men) with BA > CA was found. The dynamics of body component indicators in the age period of 18–70 years is characterized by a decrease in ACM%, TW%, and an increase in BFM%, and in groups with BA > CA, the negative dynamics is 2–3 times more intense. It is likely that the imbalance in the ratio of body components is a consequence of numerous age-related morphofunctional disorders. Therefore, maintaining BA at an appropriate level helps to normalize the ratio of components at all stages of ontogenesis.
