Experimental Study of the Kinetics of the Reaction of Hydrochloric Acid with Carbonate Rocks under Thermobaric Conditions of the Reservoir

The interaction of acid with carbonate rocks is the basis for processes of increasing the productivity of production wells and intensifying oil production from carbonate reservoirs. The dissolution of carbonates under conditions of filtration of an acid solution through a porous medium is determined by the competition between the processes of chemical reaction and convective transfer of acid. The study of these competing processes is carried out in two main setups: a rotating carbonate disk washed by a flow of acid and a setup for filtering an acid solution through carbonate reservoir samples. The paper presents the results of such studies with a discussion of the results and the determination of the reaction kinetics parameters on a sample of a specific deposit. The values of the diffusion and reaction kinetics and the critical rate of formation of wormholes in a porous medium at different concentrations of hydrochloric acid are calculated. The values of the main dimensionless similarity complexes are estimated: the Damköhler and Peclet numbers and the dissolving power of the acid.
