Abstract

Liquid–liquid phase equilibria in systems containing ethanol, benzene, and deep eutectic solvents are studied. Deep eutectic solvents based on choline chloride in combination with malonic acid, urea, and glycerol are studied. The experiments are carried out at a temperature of 293.15 K and atmospheric pressure. The compositions of the equilibrium liquid phases are determined using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The distribution coefficients of ethanol and benzene, as well as the selectivity of deep eutectic solvents, are calculated, on the basis of which a comparison of their extraction capacity is carried out. The obtained results are important for the development of processes for the extraction separation of mixtures of ethanol and benzene.
