Modeling the Conversion of Alkanethiols into Disulfides Using Ionic Liquids
摘要
Abstract
A functional model of an environmentally friendly and energy-saving technology for removing toxic alkanethiols for their conversion into useful disulfides using ionic liquids has been proposed. The process is based on the mediated electrooxidation of alkanethiols removed from liquid fuels by extraction with ionic liquids. The developed method for the indirect electrosynthesis of symmetrical disulfides has been implemented under mild conditions in a medium of conductive ionic liquids, which act as a solvent and background electrolyte. The use of a mediator increases the efficiency of electrosynthesis and reduces energy consumption compared to the direct electrochemical oxidative conversion of alkanethiols to disulfides.
