Chemical Water Treatment for Improving Coil-Type Direct-Flow Steam Generators

Abstract

Unlike boilers and drum steam generators, coil-type direct-flow steam generators require improved feed water quality for uninterrupted operation, which is difficult to achieve with conventional filters. The risk of sedimentation on the coil surface because of the poor quality of the feed liquid requires selecting the best method for chemical water treatment (CWT), taking into account the real operating conditions of a mobile steam generator. An analysis of the most common methods for chemical water treatment and modeling of the heat carrier flow through the coil pipes helps to select the components for the feed water chemical preparation unit. The article presents the results of calculations of water treatment filters of various types, which provide the standard chemical characteristics of the heat carrier, and the results of modeling of the coaxial coil for the flow of chemically purified and feed water. The optimum variant of chemical purification of feed water is proposed and substantiated.
