Abstract <p> We consider discrete symmetries of the Kadomtsev–Petviashvili equation and compatibility of the corresponding differential–difference equations. A reduction of the general scheme to <InlineEquation ID="IEq1"> <EquationSource Format="TEX">\((1+1)\)</EquationSource> </InlineEquation>-dimensional case is presented. </p>
