Effect of Slag Deoxidation on the Content of Nonmetallic Inclusions in Ultralow-Carbon 01YuT Steel

Abstract—The content and composition of the nonmetallic inclusions (NIs) present in four batches of hot-rolled and thirteen batches of cold-rolled cold-worked stock made from ultralow-carbon 01YuT steel of four heats are studied. When performing the series of heats, deoxidation and modification of a steel-pouring ladle cover slag via aluminum feeding are used. Based on the results obtained, the key role of the steel-pouring ladle cover slag in ensuring a high purity of the steel in NIs and preventing the sorting of rolled stock in surface defects is confirmed.
