摘要

Abstract

The structure and properties of borided layers on low-carbon complex-alloyed steel VKS-5 were studied using liquid-phase, electroless boriding in a melt with lanthanum oxide additives. It was shown that adding lanthanum oxide significantly increases the depth of borided layers and reduces their microhardness to 1650–1750 HV0.1. Electron microscopy revealed significant changes in the morphology of borided layers in some cases. Energy-dispersive analysis indicated redistribution of alloying elements between the matrix and the borided layer.
