摘要

Abstract

We are the first to perform experiments on strengthening plasma coatings on a cylindrical surface by friction stir processing with two oppositely located tools. A 65Kh25G13N3 steel powder (Fe–23.7% Cr–11.9% Mn–3.2% Ni–0.57% C–0.52% Si) was chosen as a coating material. When the pressure of the tools on the coating is up to 80 MPa and their impact power is 1.06 kW, the temperature in the processing zone rises to 1100°C, at which the coating and the ends of the tools are oxidized; this limits the adhesive interaction between them and allows plastic deformation and compaction of the coating. The ultimate tensile strength of the coating after friction stir processing increases from initial 254 to 333 MPa.
