Structural-Simulation Model for the Deformation of Shape Memory Alloys: I. Description of the Orientational Transformation Effect

Abstract
A one-dimensional structural-simulation model is proposed to describe the deformation of shape memory alloys during thermoelastic phase transformations; it takes into account the nucleation and development of martensitic mesoelements during the direct transformation and their degradation and disappearance during the reverse transformation. An adequate description of the orientational transformation effects in terms of the model is demonstrated.
