Glucose Oxidation Catalysts Based on VULCAN XC-72 Carbon Black
摘要
Abstract
Glucose electrooxidation catalysts are synthesized by the different methods. Vulcan XC-72 carbon black modified with cerium oxide and palladium is used as a support. The physicochemical studies show that cerium oxide modification method affects the textural characteristics, phase composition, and surface structure of the catalyst. In addition, the choice of method affects the ratio between Ce4+ and Ce3+ phases on the catalyst surface. The electrochemical studies show that the number of electrons released during glucose oxidation is approximately 2 for all the synthesized catalysts. Adsorption and diffusion are the processes that determine the glucose oxidation kinetics.
