Abstract <p>Hexaaluminates EuMg<sub>0.8</sub>Al<sub>11</sub>O<sub>18.8</sub> and GdMg<sub>0.8</sub>Al<sub>11</sub>O<sub>18.8</sub> with a magnetoplumbite structure were prepared by the citrate sol-gel method and identified by X-ray diffraction analysis, scanning electron microscopy, and EDX-spectroscopy. The enthalpies of formation of EuMg<sub>0.8</sub>Al<sub>11</sub>O<sub>18.8</sub> and GdMg<sub>0.8</sub>Al<sub>11</sub>O<sub>18.8</sub> from oxides and elements at 298.15 K were determined from the enthalpies of solution in molten lead borate.</p>

Abstract
