Abstract <p>This work is devoted to the experimental determination of the enthalpies of formation of the rare-earth tantalates: DyTaO<sub>4</sub> and HoTaO<sub>4</sub>. High-temperature drop-solution calorimetry was applied to determine the values of the heat effects of drop and dissolution of the oxides and the enthalpies of formation from oxides of the orthotantalates at 298 K. The results of the current study alongside with the literature data allowed to obtain the temperature dependencies of the Gibbs free energy of formation from oxides in the high temperature range.</p>
