Volumetric Properties of Aqueous Solutions of Sodium Metaborate from 283.15 to 323.15 K and 0.1 MPa

Abstract—
Densities of aqueous solutions of sodium metaborate in the 0.1 to 3.8 mol kg−1 concentration range have been measured by using vibrating-tube densitometer over the temperature ranges 283.15 ≤ T ≤ 323.15 K at 0.1 MPa pressure. The volumetric ion interaction parameters of sodium metaborate at various temperatures were determined. The apparent molar volumes of sodium metaborate derived from the experimental results varied smoothly with solute concentration and temperature and could be fitted with an average precision of ±0.04 cm3 mol–1 using Pitzer ion interaction model. Comparison of the present results with literature data for lithium metaborate exhibits different dependence on concertrations.
