Preparation and Subsequent Characterization of Sulfur and Nitrogen Dual-doped Carbon Nanotubes

Abstract
A new sulfur and nitrogen dual-doped carbon nanotubes (SNCNTs) were synthesized by melamine and thiourea via a coordination and carbonization process. SNCNTs were characterized by N2 adsorption–desorption, Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The results demonstrated that this feasible synthetic route using melamine and thiourea was useful for synthesizing S- and N-dual-doped functional carbon nanotubes. The material is expected to be used in the fields of battery electrode and catalytic materials.
