Synthesis and Structures of Cadmium(II) and Lead(II) Complexes with Azaheterocarboxylate Ligands

The complexation reactions of cadmium(II) and lead(II) nitrates with azaheterocyclic acids quinaldine-2-carboxylic HQln, quinoxaline-2-carboxylic HQox, and xanthurenic HXan in organic solvents (CH3CN, DMF, DMSO) were studied. It was found that the reactions in acetonitrile proceed with the formation of heterocyclic complex compounds [M(Qln)NO3] or [M(Qox)NO3] (M = Cd, Pb) with azaheterocarboxylate and nitrate anions as ligands. The presence of other solvents (DMF, H2O) leads to the formation of compounds with the corresponding coordinated solvent molecules. Carrying out the lead(II) complexation reaction when heating leads to the formation of complex [Pb(Qln)2]. It was found that reactions with xanthurenic acid HXan in DMSO resulted in the formation of associate HXan·DMSO as the main product. The structures of complexes [Cd(Qox)(H2O)2(NO3)]·H2O and [Pb3(Qox)4(NO3)2]·2DMF, as well as the molecular associate HXan·DMSO, were determined using X-ray diffraction. In the complexes, quinaldine-2-carboxylate acts as a bidentate N,O-ligand, and quinoxaline-2-carboxylate acts as a tridentate N,O,O-ligand.
