Abstract

Two novel Pb(II) 2D/3D coordination polymers using different functional ligand, namely [Pb2(nbca)2]n (I) and [Pb0.5(dcia)]n (II), have been synthesized by the hydrothermal reaction and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, powder X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and fluorescent spectra (nbca is 2,3-norbornanedicarboxylic acid; dcia is 3,5-dichloroisonicotinic acid anion). The single-crystal X-ray diffractions reveal that two complexes exhibit different networks displaying remarked structural sensitivity to functionalized ligands. Among them, complex I crystallizes in monoclinic crystal system, space group P21/c and features a two-dimensional pyknotic layer structure. Whereas the complex II crystallizes in Tetragonal crystal system, space group P42/n and features a 3D (3,6)-connected jxj topology with the Schläfli symbol of {42.6}2{44.62.89}. Furthermore, the photoluminescence investigation indicates that both Pb(II) compounds could be a prospective candidate for developing luminescent sensors for the selective sensing of Fe3+ ion through fluorescence quenching.
