Abstract

The use of poly(trithiocyanuric acid) (pTTCA) with varying degrees of polymerization (0–100%) as a precursor for the synthesis of graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) was studied. The effect of the pTTCA degree of polymerization on the structural, morphological, and photocatalytic properties of the resulting material was elucidated. Particular attention was given to changes in the chemical composition, including doping with sulfur, oxygen, and cyano groups, as well as morphological transformation from porous structure to denser structures. It was shown that the use of pTTCA provides for effective control over the physicochemical properties of g-C3N4, thus enhancing its photocatalytic activity in the degradation of organic pollutants.
