Abstract <p>The article presents the results of the study of genetic diversity in the fragment of the mitochondrial cytochrome <i>b</i> gene (<i>mtCyt b</i>) of the round goby <i>Neogobius fluviatilis</i> in the Central Invasion Corridor. Based on the analysis of our own research results, as well as data available in the literature, the phylogeographic pattern of the species spread is shown. It has been established that there is no genetic diversity in the round goby <i>N. fluviatilis</i> living in the upper reaches of the river Dnieper and further along the Central Invasive Corridor. Based on the obtained data, it is assumed that the round goby <i>N. fluviatilis</i> penetrated into the upper reaches of the Dnieper by unintentional introduction of a small number of individuals during the active cargo and passenger use of the river in the mid-19th—early 20th centuries.</p>
