Abstract

The results of experimental studies of chiral film structures based on arrays of nickel nanohelices are considered. Three-dimensional nanostructures were synthesized using the oblique sputtering method that provides controlled nanostructuring via self-organization processes. The objective of this study was to investigate the chirality determined by the structure of the obtained nanomaterials. To achieve this, the optical activity was studied using circular-dichroism spectrometry, and the helical morphology and chirality of nanostructures were examined using scanning electron microscopy. The correlation between the optical response and the helical shape of nanostructures has been shown. Such nanostructures can be used in molecular probing, chiral separation of enantiomers, and as optical polarization elements.
