A Review on High-Entropy Alloys Synthesized via Powder Metallurgy Route
摘要
High-entropy alloys have been the subject of much research over the past 20 years due to their deviation from conventional alloying principles. These single-phase alloys perform exceptionally well in a variety of qualities that are pertinent to growing economic sectors. Comparing high-entropy alloys to conventional alloys, the materials characteristics enhanced due to their unique qualities such as cocktail effect, slow diffusion, high entropy effect, and lattice distortion effect. Although ingot metallurgy was the primary method used historically, modern technologies use advanced additive manufacturing techniques like vacuum arc melting and powder metallurgy to create high-entropy alloys. The current focus on powder metallurgy strategies for high-entropy alloys indicates a move in the direction of novel approaches. The historical background of high-entropy alloys development is examined in this review, with a focus on the change from ingot metallurgy to advanced additive manufacturing. It explores in detail how powder metallurgy contributes to the improvement of alloy capabilities and high-entropy alloy nanostructures, offering possible directions for future research.
