Abstract

The present study investigates the impact of severe plastic deformation by the high-pressure torsion on the structure, properties, and state of grain boundaries in quenched hafnium bronze. The findings demonstrate that severe plastic deformation results in substantial hardening and refinement of the structure. Furthermore, it is evident that a considerable fraction of grain boundaries exhibit increased energy, suggesting their non-equilibrium state. Additionally, it is observed that the number of such boundaries increases with increasing degree of deformation.
