Abstract

The efficiency of preparation of Al–Sn–Al3Ti composites by liquid-phase sintering of compacts, which were formed from aluminum, tin, and titanium element powders and in case of addition of the Al3Ti powder instead of titanium one, is studied. The composites prepared with the Al3Ti powder are shown to be characterized by a strength of 150–170 MPa and a plasticity of more than 10% in the wide Al3Ti concentration range (16–34 wt %). The mechanism of the effect of aluminide particles on the mechanical properties of Al‒Sn composites is discussed.
