The Upper Carboniferous (Kasimovian) Crinoids from the Neverovo Formation of the Moscow Basin. Part II. Systematic Paleontology

This chapter provides a systematic description and revision of the crinoid assemblage of the Neverovo Formation in the Moscow Basin. The assemblage is represented by 29 crinoid species belonging to four main Paleozoic groups: Camerata, Disparida, Flexibilia, and Articuliformes. Nine new genera are established and described in this paper: Voskresenskicrinus gen. nov., Neverovocrinus gen. nov., Cemgiganticrinus gen. nov., Afanasievocrinus gen. nov., Gracilicrinus gen. nov., Sulcatocrinus gen. nov., Tenuibrachiocrinus gen. nov., Sukhanovocrinus gen. nov., Syzigobrachiocrinus gen. nov.) as well as 17 new species (Voskresenskicrinus medvedkensis gen. et sp. nov., Elibatocrinus gracilis sp. nov., Neverovocrinus decadoramosus gen. et sp. nov., Cemgiganticrinus popovorum gen. et sp. nov., Afanasievocrinus pentagonalis gen. et sp. nov., Gracilicrinus chertanovoensis gen. et sp. nov., Exoriocrinus pseudorugosus sp. nov., Brabeocrinus costatus sp. nov., Sulcatocrinus sinusoides gen. et sp. nov., Tenuibrachiocrinus domodedovoensis gen. et sp. nov., Tenuibrachiocrinus erlangeri gen. et sp. nov., Apographiocrinus convexus sp. nov., Sukhanovocrinus parvus gen. et sp. nov., ? Chlidonocrinus medvedkaensis sp. nov., Syzigobrachiocrinus ramulosus gen. et sp. nov., Halogetocrinus yakovlevi sp. nov., Allosocrinus moscoviensis sp. nov.). A new family of crinoids, Tenuibrachiocrinidae, is described, including two species from the Middle and Upper Carboniferous of the Moscow Basin. The systematic position and diagnosis of several previously described taxa from Carboniferous deposits of the Moscow Basin are clarified. Cryptosyzygy is established for the first time for the genus Aesiocrinus.
