Manifestation of Homological Series as a Consequence of Destabilization of Morphogenesis in Stress Environments and Weakening of Stabilizing Selection in Favorable Conditions

摘要

Abstract

This work develops D.K. Belyaev’s hypothesis that the manifestation of homologous series is a consequence of destabilization of morphogenesis. It has been shown that homologous series are most fully represented both in unusual habitats and in relatively favorable environmental conditions (at the early stages of taxa formation, artificial cultivation). Under unusual conditions, destabilization of morphogenesis mainly occurs due to the increased effect of unfavorable factors on the developing organism (that is, morphoses appear). Under favorable conditions, the proportion of individuals with destabilized morphogenesis increases, mainly due to the weakening of stabilizing selection. In both cases, there may also be a destabilizing effect from directional selection.
