Sutherlandia gzheliensis sp. nov.—a New Species of Favositid Coral from the Gzhelian Stage of the Moscow Syneclise
摘要
Abstract
A new species of small favositid corals of the genus Sutherlandia Cocke et Bowsher, 1968, found in the Gzhelian deposits of the Moscow Syneclise, is described. The combination of morphological characters, such as the shape and number of squamules, the size of the colony, calyxes, and pores, as well as the number and location of connecting pores, made it possible to identify a new species Sutherlandia gzheliensis sp. nov. It is shown that these corals settled mainly on fragments of other invertebrates. The collection contains many corals that are attached to brachiopod spines and fragments of bryozoan skeletons, as well as crinoid stems.
