Synthesis, Characterization and Crystal Structures of Aroylhydrazones Derived from 4-Hydroxy-3-Nitrobenzaldehyde with Various Hydrazides

Abstract
Three new aroylhydrazones are prepared by reaction of 4-hydroxy-3-nitrobenzaldehyde with 4-bromobenzohydrazide, 3-trifluoromethylbenzohydrazide and 2-aminobenzohydrazide, respectively in MeOH. The three compounds are characterized by elemental analysis, IR and 1H NMR spectra. Detailed structures of the compounds are determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. Antibacterial activities of the compounds are evaluated on E. coli, P. aeruginosa, B. subtilis, and S. aureus and show high potency.
