Abstract

A comparative analysis of changes in the cardiac activityparameters under conditions of sodium nitrite-induced hemic hypoxiawas performed in female rats and their fetuses on gestation days18 (E18) and 20 (E20). In the last trimester of prenatal development, the female organism demonstrated a higher sensitivity to oxygendeficiency at E20 compared to E18. By contrast, the fetuses revealeda higher cardiac hypoxic resistance at E20 than at E18. Heart ratevariability analysis showed an active involvement of the catecholaminergicsystem in the emergency mobilization of energy and metabolic resourcesin fetuses.
