Hypothermia and Reproductive Function in Male Mammals
摘要
The human and animal reproductive system is sensitive to temperature, but there are very few studies devoted to the effects of hypothermiaon mammalian reproduction. The widespread application of therapeutichypothermia requires a comprehensive investigation of the delayedeffects of low temperature on a variety of physiological systems.Hibernating mammals have a significant potential to reactivate thereproductive system after prolonged hypothermia and can serve animportant experimental model for the development of new methodsof prevention and treatment of human reproductive diseases. Thisreview analyses currently available data on hypothermia-relateddisorders in the male reproductive system of mammals and addressesthe mechanisms of natural protection of the reproductive functionin hibernating mammals.
