Abstract <p>The <sup>103</sup>Ru radionuclide has been produced using a reactor and identified with the aim of developing the <sup>103</sup>Ru/<sup>103m</sup>Rh generator. Methods for synthesis and distillation of highly volatile RuO<sub>4</sub> from metallic ruthenium and from solutions have been developed and tested. The effect of RuO<sub>4</sub> purification from concomitant radionuclides during distillation is shown. The feasibility of separating ruthenium and the target radioisotope <sup>103m</sup>Rh by thermal distillation of RuO<sub>4</sub> has been demonstrated for the first time.</p>

Abstract
