摘要

Abstract

A beam-induced fluorescence monitor based on fluorescence of the residual gas in the vacuum pipeline of the accelerator has been installed at the low-energy beam transport line of the INR linac for nondestructive measurements of the proton-beam profile and position. The design features of the monitor and experimental results of measurements during accelerator runs are presented. The monitor sensitivity, accuracy, and resolution are estimated. Based on these estimates, the acceptable operation modes and the necessary parameters of the diagnostic imaging system can be determined for various combinations of the beam parameters and the parameters of the accelerator vacuum system. The feasibility of this type of diagnostics based on a system of standard machine-vision cameras is shown for high-current proton-beam transport lines without the use of image intensifiers and additional gas injection into the pipeline.
